What happens

A woodblock and hand-colouring workshop with a printmaker. You print a black outline from a carved block, then paint the colours in by hand, the Hàng Trống way. Your print comes home with you.

Colours. Hàng Trống pictures use pink, blue, green, red and yellow, and you choose which goes where.

You paint, one colour at a time, letting each dry a little before the next.

What to wear

Clothes that can take a drop of paint. Aprons are provided.

Cancel up to 48 hours before the start for a full refund. Between 48 and 24 hours, half is refunded. Within 24 hours, nothing is, unless we cancel: then you are refunded in full, or moved to another day.

Questions

Do I need to draw?

No. The line is printed for you from a carved block. You choose the colours and paint them.

Can I take it on the plane?

It travels in a card tube, rolled with paper. The paint needs a day to dry fully, so do not pack it wet.

Is this how the pictures on this site are made?

In spirit. The pictures on this site are drawn by an image model and separated into plates by a program, then printed on screen. The workshop is by hand.
